Lost Balls Invitational History

On the second of May in two thousand eighteen, sixteen golfers descended upon Myrtle Beach with the hopes of winning the 12th annual LBI.  Some descended full of chardonnay, bloody’s and Coors light while others arrived full of bodily gas.  No matter how they got there, all aspired to repeat what was accomplished by the People’s Champion in 2017.

The King of the North had home court advantage hosting us at his famed Kings North.  From his throne he watched as his fellow competitors took on his masterpiece … The Gambler.  Arriving at the gambler a sign greets you …

Each stepped up as if they were 10-year veterans.  Well, at least three of them.

As Lich stood at the end of the gambler watching his 4th ball go swimming he finally understood what know when to walk away meant.  He wasn’t alone as 4 others, including the champion, took at 10.

One of those 10’s was a rookie and there were 4 of them each believing they had a chance.

- Gilbert “I’ll take any bet” Bell,

- Jason “How did I win the skin” Todd

- Miami Marlin and

- Jeff “What the f#ck are you doing to that beer can” Maddoux.

Could they take the heat, how would they perform under pressure, can they shotgun?  Shoes!!!

When the spilled beer & pickled vodka settled;

-  lifetime stories were created

-  men were slapped

-  lessons were learned

-  records were broken

-  and a new champion emerged in

     Dan Nall!

Tournament Summary

Lessons Learned

  • When Tini wants Lich to shotgun, he wants him to shotgun NOW! NOW! NOW!

  • When answering the door nude, know who’s on the other side.

  • If your right shoe is wet, the best place to store it is in your golf bag.

How to properly drop when your ball enters a hazard

  1. Choose a strong IPA as your drink of choice during the 36 hole day.

  2. Hook your ball into a pond and determine the point of entry.

  3. Drop your ball on a sloping surface and watch it roll into the pond.

  4. Drop another ball on the same sloping surface and watch it roll into the pond.

  5. Lean forward in an attempt to grab your ball and take a large step into the pond.

  6. Sink into the water until your thigh if fully immersed.

  7. Retrieve no balls, finish the hole and the round then store your wet shoe overnight in your bag.
